If you’re running your business digitally, then
we’re sure you are aware of Microsoft Dynamics 365 or may even be using
it. But as we know, anything that Microsoft offers comes with many new upgrades
and new features.
Similarly, Dynamics 365 has also undergone
updates. Here are some of the things you may want to know if you’re a user,
especially if you use Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations and Dynamics 365
Customer Engagement Online.
Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations
Launched in 2017, this is an ERP (Enterprise
Resource Planning) an application built to help businesses run smoothly. By using
this, you can enhance your financial performance, manage it better, streamline
your operations, and make work a tad bit easier for your employees.
Through this, you get purpose-built applications
on the cloud server. It enables you to increase your productivity and gain
deeper insights into how you can operate your business better.
Under the latest upgrade, this application is no
longer unified – it has been divided into Dynamics 365 Finance and
Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management – each with the following features.
With Dynamics
365 Finance, businesses can -
·
Automate
and modernize your business’s global financial operations
·
Monitor
your performance in real-time
·
Predict
future trends and outcomes
·
Make
data-derived decisions that drive growth
With Dynamics 365 Supply Chain Management,
businesses can -
·
Get
the combined benefits of IoT, AI, and mixed reality
·
Improve
global operations
·
Get
insights to make projections that smoothen operations
·

Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement Online
This was Microsoft’s solution to all your CRM
(Customer Relationship Management) needs. Whether you wanted help with Sales
& Marketing, Field Service, Customer Service, or Project Service
Automation, Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement Online was the go-to application
for all such processes.
But with the most recent update on October 2019, for
"online" customers, the Dynamics 365 for Customer Engagement license/SKU plan is
no longer available. Instead, online customers who want to leverage
capabilities would have to build these ‘model-driven apps’, now, on
the Common Data Service, also known as Microsoft Dataverse, using
Power Apps – based on their specific business needs. However, the “On-premises” customers can
continue with using Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement (on-premises) to
meet all of their service, sales, and marketing needs.
The latest Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement was
an umbrella term for the following apps, which now exist as individual service
solutions:
- Dynamics 365 Customer Service
- Dynamics 365 Field Service
- Dynamics 365 Marketing
- Dynamics 365 Project Service
Automation
- Dynamics 365 Sales
So, in short, the latest updates of Microsoft
have resulted in a division of Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations to Dynamics
365 Finance and Dynamics 365 Supply Change Management. Also, there is no
application for ‘Customer Engagement Online’, just for ‘On-premise’, and various
individual applications for each of your CRM needs, as desired. You will have
to customize it as per your requirements on Microsoft’s cloud server.
